About

The London Film School calls itself "the UK's oldest dedicated film school". It was founded in 1956 as the London School of Film Technique in premises on Electric Avenue in Brixton, moved to Covent Garden in the 1960s, and is now a registered not-for-profit charity teaching around 300 students from more than 50 countries on a conservatoire model, where students "learn by doing".

Its MA programmes are taught from the Parker Street campus, which sits above The Garden Cinema, while the Shelton Street building a few minutes away — home to the school for 60 years — holds its two cinemas, of 100 and 40 seats, with projection for both digital and 35mm. They are used for student screenings, industry presentations and special events, some of them open to the public.
