About
Peckham Palms opened in 2019 as the UK's first dedicated Black hair and beauty destination, a purpose-built arcade off Bournemouth Close housing fourteen units of hair, beauty, retail, food and creative businesses. Backed by Southwark Council, it works as "a social and supportive landlord", offering subsidised rents to "support the growth of businesses, led by Black women, to create more diversity and equality on the High Street".
The arcade doubles as an Afrocentric retail space and community hub, putting on events for the neighbourhood that occasionally include film screenings.
