About

St George's Garrison Church was built in 1862–63 to a design by Thomas H Wyatt, an Italian-Romanesque church for the Royal Artillery stationed at the barracks opposite. Bombed during the Second World War, it survives as a ruin: its conserved Victorian mosaics now sit under a modern canopy roof, open to the sky at the edges.

The Woolwich Garrison Church Trust runs the site as a free-to-visit heritage space and event venue, with concerts, theatre and community gatherings in the ruins and its garden, occasionally including film screenings.
