The Rookery

The Rookery is the walled garden at the top of Streatham Common, run since 2015 by the Streatham Common Co-operative — "a community run social enterprise managing all services from gardening to litter picking in the Streatham Rookery". The co-op grew out of a public meeting in 2012, took on the Common's paddling pool in 2016 to save it from closure, and has since won Heritage Lottery funding to restore the Cascade and Rock Garden. Only about a third of its income comes from the Lambeth contract; the rest is raised through donations and events.

Those events include the monthly Rookery Market and a Christmas fair, and in summer the gardens host outdoor film screenings.
