Reel Talk is “a sociable film club for locals who like bold movies and big conversations” — run by East Croydon Cool in partnership with the David Lean Cinema, and hosted by Pilar Nalwimba and Louis Holder, who bookend each screening with a conversation about the film, often joined on stage by a guest. There's “no film snobbery or judgement here”, just “a shared love of stories that challenge, move and stay with us long after the lights go up”.
Afterwards the audience shares perspectives over drinks and low-key creative activities designed to get people talking: the One Word Review Board, a postcard collage station, and a Video Rental Store where you pick a video, crack it open with a stranger and ask each other the question inside. Tickets include a free drink on arrival, and the cash bar stays open throughout.
