About

The Kino London Short Film Festival is run by Kino Short Film, which connects emerging filmmakers with audiences who crave something outside the mainstream and backs new talent “with funding, on set, in the festival circuit, and beyond”. The festival first opened for submissions in 2019 under its original name, The People's Film Festival, and has since become a BIFA qualifier for Best British Short Film.

Its focus is narrative and documentary shorts made by emerging talent, and it is, in the organisers' words, infamous for curating “a broad selection of diverse national and international shorts with delightful tangents into a variety of genres and styles”. Themed programmes of shorts run alongside industry sessions on funding and craft, open-screen nights where anyone can show what they have made, and an awards night to close.
